Last season:
An injury plagued season, that saw star Paul Pierce miss 35 games, saw the Celtics win only 24 games and miss the playoffs for the fourth year in a row.

·
The Boston Celtics are one of only two founding
NBA (then-Basketball Association of America)
teams that remain from 1946 and have stayed in the
same city since. Through the years, Boston has been
one of the most dominant teams in the NBA, winning
16 titles and featuring Hall of Fame greats like
Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Pete Maravich,
Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish along
the way.
· After seasons of rebuilding,
the Celtics appear to be among the top teams in
the NBA's Eastern Conference after respective trades
in June and July brought perennial All-Stars Ray
Allen and Kevin Garnett to the team to line up alongside
Paul Pierce.
