Nike IJT Belgrade Game Report: Partizan Igokea 75-71 Montepaschi Siena
Nemanja Jaramay - Partizan Igokea - Belgrade Junior Tournament 2008 Partizan Belgrade won the fifth spot in the Nike Junior Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia after beating Montepaschi Siena 75-71 behind a big finish. Both teams fought and shared the lead several times. Montepaschi enjoyed a better start behind Nika Metrevelli's points on the way to a 17-22 lead. Partizan struck back in the second quarter, taking a 40-38 lead at half time enjoying Nemanja Jaramay's offensive skills. Partizan continued to dominate with the help of guard Igor Bilic's tough play and entered the last quarter holding a 63-54 margin. Montepaschi wasn't going to give up yet, and early in the deciding quarter took over the game. David Cournooh hit 11 points in a row and Metrevelli added another three-pointer as the Italian side took a 63-65 lead. Partizan finally finished its drought but still needed to chase after Montepaschi to recapture the lead and that happened only in the last minute. Aleksander Vlahovic finished a big steal with a bucket and a free throw bonus point to make it 73-71 Partizan, and in the following play Montepaschi lost the ball to see Vlahovic connect two in a row from the line and secure the win. Jaramay had 20 points with eight rebounds for Partizan, Bogdan Riynic missed all of his seven attempts from long range but still had a good offensive performance with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, Vlahovic followed with 19 points and Bilic finished with 16 points. Montepaschi earned 20 points and nine rebounds from Metrevelli, in addition to 18 points, all from long range, by Simone Centannini and 15 from Cournooh.
