Player to Watch: Jerome Moiso
A sometimes-overlooked part of the DKV success this season has been blue-collar center Jerome Moiso. On a team best known for its exciting perimeter players, Moiso, 29, has done the dirty work in the paint to help make his team a winner. The Frenchman has made a solid impact in his first ULEB Cup season as a punishing offensive rebounder and an intimidating shot-blocker. Although this is his first time fighting for European club glory, Moiso has faced high-pressure situations in the past with a resume that includes appearances for the French national team, A Spanish championship with Real Madrid, a college career at UCLA and several seasons in the NBA. He tapped that experience to improve his game in the elimination rounds, raising his scoring, rebounding and shot-blocking averages. Moiso teams with Edu Hernandez-Sonseca to form a solid center tandem for Joventut and the top shot-blocking duo in the competition. Moiso’s ability to remain a factor in the paint has been a crucial part of the team’s success to date and figures to be critical to Joventut’s chances to make a run at the ULEB Cup title. And there is little doubt that Moiso is up to the challenge.
