| A thunderous player near the basket, Mike Batiste showcased his skills all weekend long in Berlin to help push Panathinaikos to its fifth Euroleague title. As the veteran half of a knockout duo in the paint, Batiste was virtually unstoppable when he had the ball on the blocks. Opponents had few answers for the punishment that he and young center Nikola Pekovic dished out in tandem. Although it is easy to stay focused on Batiste’s explosive athletic ability, his array of spectacular dunks are just a bonus to the complete package that he brings to the floor. Batiste has spent six seasons with Panathinaikos for a good reason: he is a premier big man who works within the team framework to achieve victory. While he fills statistics columns and highlight reels like few other players, Batiste’s contribution to the Greens is best measured by his two Euroleague titles with them! |
