Cibona reached an agreement with head coach Velimir Perasovic to extend his contract until the end of the 2009-10 season, the club announced Monday. Perasovic, age 44, led Cibona to one of its best seasons in recent history, as it won both the Croatian League and the Croatian Cup title. Perasovic, a three-time Euroleague champion with Split as a player, also helped Cibona to make it to the Top 16 and registered prestigious home wins against Maccabi Electra, Olympiacos or Montepaschi Siena throughout the season. He has also coached Estudiantes, Caja San Fernando and Tau Ceramica throughout his short coaching career that started in 2004. Perasovic helped Tau to win the Spanish King's Cup and made it to the Euroleague Final Four in 2006. "I signed a 1+1 contract and all the goals I needed for me to sign the extension were achieved," Perasovic said in an official press conference. "The situation will be difficult for us next year but I hope we find good players in the market and to put together a good team, just as we did last season."
