Help in both the front and backcourts came Lottomatica Roma's way on Thursday with the signings of big man Andrea Crosariol and guard Ricky Minard. Crosariol (210, 24) arrives from Air Avellino, where he averaged 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds over 10 Euroleague games last year in a part-time role of 12 minutes per night. His played 19.8 minutes per Italian League game, putting up 7.5 points and 5 rebounds. He had previously played for both Virtus Bologna and Roma in the 2007-08 Euroleague season. "Crosariol is a great investment for the future," Roma head coach Nando Gentile said. "He has great potential to do well both technically and physically in the Euroleague." Altogether, Crosiarol has three full seasons of pro experience in Europe after having grown up in the Benetton Treviso organization and played university basketball for three seasons at Farleigh Dickinson in the United States. Crosiarol signed a four-year contract with Roma.
Minard (194, 27) arrives on a two-year deal after having spent the same amount of time at Montegranaro, another Italian club. Minard last year put up 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals in 32 minutes per game in the Italian League. He has played a total of four seasons in Italy, also spending time with Reggio Emilia and Lauretana Biella. "Minard is a player who I have always followed and liked," Gentile said. "He can play several positions and make a contribution on both offense and defense."
