Entente Orleanaise Loiret continued to prepare itself for its debut foray into the Euroleague qualifying rounds with the addition of two big men. Promising French center Ludovic Vaty signed a two-year deal and big man Justin Doellman, last with Besancon, signed for one season. Vaty (206, 20) arrives from EB Pau-Orthez, where he had a brief taste of the Euroleague, taking part in seven games as a teenager in the 2006-07 season. The following year, Vaty posted 6.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 10 ULEB Cup games. Last season he averaged 11.6 points and 7.7 rebounds in the French League, establishing himself as one of the top young centers in French basketball. He has been invited to compete for a spot on the French national team this summer ahead of the EuroBasket qualifying games.
Doellman (206, 24) led Besancon last season with 14.7 points and 6 rebounds per game in his second season in France. He first arrived in the 2007-08 season to Cholet Basket with whom he won the Semaine des As. Doellman had a successful college basketball career at Xavier University. He was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference First Team after his senior year in 2007 in which he posted 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game – all team highs.
