Spanish League, Regular Season, Game 29: April 14-15, 2012
Sergio Llull - Real Madrid_36003FC Barcelona Regal kept a firm grip on first place in the Spanish League with a victory over Lagun Aro 77-61, while second-place Real Madrid also won to stay two games back. Third-place Caja Laboral lost, however, tightening the distance with fourth-place Gescrap. Barcelona took a 23-16 lead in the first quarter and Lagun Aro was forced to play catch up, cutting the margin to 9 points early in the fourth quarter, but the hosts quickly snuffed out any attempt at a rally. Juan Carlos Navarro led the way with 17 points and 5 assists, while Marcelo Huerta stalled 14 and Fran Vazquez added 12, as Barcelona climbed to 24-5. Sergio Llull came up big for Real Madrid, scoring 24 points, including 3 of 7 from downtown and 11 of 12 from the foul line, along with 6 assists, as the Whites held on to beat Lucentum Alicante 91-87. Madrid came out on fire, winning the first quarter 32-13, but lost the remaining three to an Alicante that never gave up. Benjamin Dewar hit two triples in the final minute to get the visitors close, but it was not enough. Assignia Manresa held off Caja Laboral 72-70 as Sergiy Gladyr netted 18 points to pace the winners, including two triples in the final quarter that opened a 64-57 lead. The visitors cut the margin but missed crucial shots at the end, finishing the game with only 27% accuracy on shots from three-point range. Mirza Teletovic paced the losers with 22 points, Milko Bjelica added 13 and Maciej Lampe had 10. Caja Laboral slipped to 20-9. A slow-starting Gescrap overcame a 12-31 deficit early in the second quarter against Blancos de Rueda Valladolid to notch an 89-77 victory, its sixth straight, to climb to 17-12. The hosts ended up outscoring the visitors 59-32 in the second and third quarters as Roger Grimau posted 18 points, while Alex Mumbru and Konstantinos Vasilieiadis added 17 apiece.
