CSKA Moscow will play for a title in its last official game before the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four next week. CSKA held off Lietuvos Rytas in Wednesday’s VTB United League semifinal 79-72 to set up a date with Unics Kazan for the championship on Thursday. It was an exciting contest in which CSKA led most of the game, but Rytas never fell far behind. The fourth quarter features two ties, the second of which was 63-63 after Steponas Babrauskas free throws with 3:31 remaining. CSKA’s big guns, Andrei Kirilenko and Milos Teodosic, struck fast with back-to-back three-pointers, however a Tyrese Rice triple kept Rytas within 69-68 with two minutes left. This Kirilenko answered with 4 straight points and Teodosic added 2 free throws to make it a 7-point game with a minute to go. Babruaskas drilled a jumper and the Rytas defense denied CSKA twice, but Rytas failed to score on its next two possessions and its comeback ran out of time. Kirilenko, who fouled out with 11 seconds left, finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds, while Teodosic tallied 13 points and 7 assists for the winners. Aleksandar Rasic led Rytas with 16 points and Predrag Samardziski added 15. Earlier, Henry Domercant propelled Unics to the final with a basket with 2 seconds to go. He finished with 30 for Unics, which beat Lokomotiv Kuban 87-86.
