Chicago beats Utah in London
The Chicago Bulls edged the Utah Jazz 102-101 at the buzzer in an NBA Europe Live game Tuesday night at London’s O2 Arena. James Johnson’s last-second jump proved to the difference between the sides. Utah continues from London to Madrid, where it faces Real Madrid on Thursday night.
Johnson and Great Britain national team player led Chicago with 18 points apiece while former Olympiacos guard Jannero Pargo scored 16 points for the winners. Paul Milsap led Utah with 18 points and Olympic gold medallist Deron Williams and Wesley Matthews had 16 each.
Chicago led by 13 midway through the third quarter before Williams heated up for Utah, cutting the deficit to 81-77 by the end of the period. Utah continued to battle back, tying the game at 84-84 as Greek national team center Kostas Koufas scored inside and taking a 2-point lead after a Milsap basket. The lead changed times eight times in the final six minutes, including Ronnie Price’s free throws putting Utah ahead 100-101 with 25 seconds to play. Chicago had one last possession and after Derrick Byars missed a three, Johnson was there to snag the rebound and gift his team the win.
