2000-01 QUARTERFINALS
Paf Bologna, Kinder Bologna, Tau Ceramica and AEK survived the best-of-three Quarterfinal Playoffs and got one step closer to the Euroleague title. Paf needed all three games to down Real Madrid 2-1. It all came down to Game 3, in which Gregor Fucka had 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead Paf to a 74-68 home win. Carlton Myers had led Paf with 41 points in Game 1. Kinder used two very narrow wins to knock off Olimpija and sweep the series. Kinder, led by Manu Ginobili, downed Olimpija 80-79 in Game 1 in Bologna and then again 79-81 in Game 2 in Ljubljana. Tau also stayed undefeated in the 2001 playoffs by sweeping its series against Olympiakos. Tau registered a 72-78 road win in Game 1 behind 22 points from Victor Alexander and finished the job at home with a convincing 98-76 home triumph in Game 2. Elmer Bennett led Tau with 27 points in Vitoria. AEK and Benetton traded home wins to take the series to Game 3. AEK did not leave Benetton any option in this make-or-break showdown, moving forward with a 71-56 home win behind 13 points each from Demos Dikoudis and Andy Betts.
