EB Regular SeasonThe 2005-06 Euroleague Basketball regular season one of the most balanced ones in competition history, with both 2005 finalists - Maccabi Elite and Tau Ceramica - winning their respective groups. Unicaja used an outstanding 11-game winning streak to win regular season Group C with a 12-2 record. Unicaja edged Panathinaikos 93-95 in the pivotal game in that group, as Berni Rodriguez won its for the guests down the stretch. Maccabi finished first in Group B due to its tie-break advantage against Efes Pilsen - and the fact that Prokom Trefl downed Lietuvos Rytas in the final regular season game. L. Rytas shocked everyone with its fun-to-watch, effective basketball in its first appearance in Europe's signature club competition. In Group A, GHP Bamberg became the first German team to make it to the Top 16. Tau won Group A with a final six-game winning streak and by winning all of its home games.

Jaka Lakovic - Panathinaikos
REGULAR SEASON GAME 1
The 2005-06 Euroleague season started in Istanbul, Turkey, where Panathinaikos downed Ulker 66-82 in the opening game. Jaka Lakovic led the winners with 19 points in front of a noisy sellout crowd of 12,000 at Abdi Ipekci Arena. AEK edged Strasbourg in a very balanced game on Ioannis Kalampokis' late heroics in the final minute.
Matteo Soragna - Benetton Basket
REGULAR SEASON GAME 2
A lot of close games took place in Game 2, showing that the Euroleague is more balanced than ever. Efes edged Winterthur FCB 66-63, Zalgiris upset Tau Ceramica 63-58 behind 17 points from Reggie Freeman, Benetton needed overtime to edge Strasbourg 76-78 while GHP Bamberg held off a wild comeback to edge Union Olimpija 81-80.
Matt Nielsen - Lietuvos Rytas
REGULAR SEASON GAME 3
Lietuvos Rytas registered its first-ever Euroleague win by edging Winterthur FC Barcelona 91-97 with 27 points from Matt Nielsen. Panathinaikos downed Montepaschi 78-82 in Siena to stay undefeated after 3 games. CSKA Moscow thrashed Unicaja 87-63 behind 21 points from J.R. Holden to get its first win of the season.
Marko Popovic - Efes Pilsen
REGULAR SEASON GAME 4
Efes Pilsen took the big Group B showdown and improved to 4-0 by downing Euroleague reigning champs Maccabi Tel Aviv 90-88 at home in Istanbul. Marko Popovic led the winners with 21 points. Lietuvos Rytas confirmed its good moment by topping Olympiacos 78-67 while Real Madrid, Climamio Bologna or Unicaja registered massive home wins.
Marcus Brown - Unicaja
REGULAR SEASON GAME 5
In one of the most exciting games so far this season, Maccabi Elite edged AJ Milano 96-95 in double overtime. Will Solomon nailed a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining in the 50th minute to win it for the reigning champs. Unicaja downed previously undefeated Panathinaikos 82-79 in Group C with 21 points from Marcus Brown.
Massimo Bulleri - AJ Milano
REGULAR SEASON GAME 6
As many as six road wins took place in Game 6. CSKA showed its power by simply overwhelming Ulker 49-82 with 18 points from Matjaz Smodis. Lietuvos Rytas stayed on fire with a 86-92 road win against Maccabi in Tel Aviv. Haris Mujezinovic led L. Rytas with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Benetton thrashed AEK 57-83 in Athens.
Ricardo Greer - Strasbourg
REGULAR SEASON GAME 7
It was a round of upsets as all teams reached this phase's halfway mark. Cibona downed Efes Pilsen 71-77 in Istanbul behind 27 points from Scoonie Penn. Strasbourg defeated Tau Ceramica 84-76, as Ricardo Greer was Strasbourg's best scorer with 19 points. Maccabi bounced back from recent loss with a 78-88 road triumph in Barcelona.
Darjus Lavrinovic - Zalgiris Kaunas
REGULAR SEASON GAME 8
It has been a big win for Lithuanian basketball, as Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas lead their respective regular season groups right before the holiday break. L. Rytas thrashed Cibona 80-52 while Zalgiris edged Union Olimpija 80-79 on a game-winning triple by Ed Cota. Panathinaikos beat Ulker 85-69 to post the best record so far, 7-1.
Demond Mallet - GHP Bamberg
REGULAR SEASON GAME 9
Panathinaikos left no doubt its power in Group C and reached the Top 16 by downing CSKA 84-89 in Moscow behind 21 points from Jaka Lakovic. Tau Ceramica thrashed Zalgiris 94-73 with 19 points from Luis Scola to tie atop the Group A standings. In Group B, Lietuvos Rytas beat AJ Milano 95-101 to register its seventh consecutive win.
Igor Rakocevic - Real Madrid
REGULAR SEASON GAME 10
Panathinaikos strengthened its first-place standing in Group C by handing guests Montepaschi 89-79 in Athens. Also in Group C, Unicaja battled for 45 minutes to seal its ticket to the Euroleague Top 16 for the first time since 2003 downing visiting CSKA Moscow 77-72 in Malaga behind 26 points from an unstoppable Marcus Brown.
Teemu Rannikko - Union Olimpija
REGULAR SEASON GAME 11
Four teams in Group A - Tau Ceramica, Climamio Bologna, Benetton Treviso and Zalgiris - reached the Top 16. Climamio sealed its ticket with a 67-76 road win against Bamberg with 20 points from Kiwane Garris. Maccabi roared into the Top 16 in Group B with a 88-81 home win against Efes Pilsen. CSKA Moscow and Real Madrid also reached the next phase in Group C.

REGULAR SEASON GAME 12
GHP Bamberg made it to the Top 16 in Group A despite a 86-65 loss against Zalgiris in Kaunas. Unicaja took the big showdown for first place in Group C with a historical 93-95 road win against Panathinaikos. Efes Pilsen, Lietuvos Rytas and Winterthur FCB also clinched Top 16 berths in Group B.
Tyus Edney - Olympiacos
REGULAR SEASON GAME 13
Tau Ceramica, Efes Pilsen and Lietuvos Rytas got closer to win their respective regular season group. Tau downed GHP Bamberg 68-73 on the road, L. Rytas edged Maccabi 88-83 in a critical game in Group B behind 21 points from Simas Jasaitis while Unicaja topped Partizan 83-79 in overtime with 20 points from an outstanding Marcus Brown.
Marin Rozic - Cibona
REGULAR SEASON GAME 14
Cibona, Olympiacos and Ulker were the last three teams to reach the 2005-06 Top 16. Cibona downed Efes Pilsen 60-49 with 28 points from 28 points. Olympiacos upset AJ Milano 75-84 on the road with 17 points from Tyus Edney. Ulker survived a winner-take-all showdown by edging Montepaschi Siena 74-71 to rank fifth in Group C.
