Cantu tabs forward Brooks

Pallacanestro Cantu improved its roster for the upcoming Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by inking Jeff Brooks to a one-year deal on Tuesday. Brooks (2.03 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Fileni BA Jesi, where he averaged 17 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 28 Italian second division games last season.

Club info
Gran Canaria 2014 is back in the Eurocup for the eighth time in nine seasons. The club comes off its best season ever as it finished fifth in the Spanish League regular season for yet another playoffs appearance. Founded in 1963, Gran Canaria reached the Spanish first division in 1985, but did not gain a foothold for good until 1995-96. The club reached its first Spanish League playoff in 2000 and played in the Korac Cup in 2001. Gran Canaria made its ULEB Cup debut in 2003-04 and went through to the eighthfinals before losing to Real Madrid. The club did not return to the ULEB CUp elimination rounds until 2007, when it lost in the eighthfinals against FMP. That season, Granca was one win away from reaching the Spanish League semifinals. Gran Canaria had its best Eurocup season ever in 2009-10, but a home loss against Panellinios in a do-or-die game prevented the team from reaching the Finals. The club remains a perennial playoff contender in Spain, and has reached that phase in eight of the last nine years. In 2010-11, Gran Canaria survived the Eurocup Qualifying Round and won its regular season group, but back-to-back losses against Cedevita Zagreb prevented the team for going further. Gran Canaria has been knocking on the Eurocup Finals' door for years and the hope at the club is that this is the year. There is no doubt that Gran Canaria is more than ready to use its previous experience and outstanding fan base to challenge for that goal.
