The great Matjaz Smodis retires
One of the great forwards of the century, three-time Euroleague champion Matjaz Smodis has decided to call it quits as a player at age 33, after finishing his career in style. Playing for his hometown team Krka Novo Mesto, a club where he started his outstanding career, Smodis was named the MVP of the playoffs finals series in his native Slovenia as Krka downed Union Olimpija 61-71 in Game 4 on Monday to win its fourth consecutive domestic title, and sixth in club history.
Unicaja, coach Repesa part ways

Unicaja Malaga of Spain announced Tuesday that Jasmin Repesa will not return as the team's head coach next season. The statement said that club management met yesterday and took the decision to terminate his contract. Repesa and Unicaja posted a 15-9 overall record in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague this season. They finished the regular season 8-2 and tied for first place in Group B.
