Lukoil Academic stays as the team to beat in the Bulgarian League, as it has dominated its domestic competitions for six years. Lukoil finished the 2007-08 season unbeaten, winning 40 consecutive games to lift its sixth Bulgarian League trophy. On fact, Lukoil lost its last Bulgarian League game on October 28, 2006 and registered 71 consecutive wins before the start of the 2008-09 season. It comes as no surprise that Lukoil will be the top - and possible only - candidate to win another league title. Todor Stoykov, Riste Stefanov, Chavdar Kostov, Nenad Canak, Tim Pickett and Antonio Burks should lead Academic to win yet another league title. Euroins Cherno More reach the title series last season and is set to challenge Lukoil with Corey McIntosh, Michael Earl or Zeljko Bojovic. Levski reached the semifinals last season, as Marcus Hall and Yuliyan Radionov will try to lead the team to at least match that result. Spartak Pleven, featuring Hrisimir Dimitrov and Rob Preston, and CSKA Sofia, with Milos Sakota or Toni Dechev, will fight to make it to the semifinals.
