Holden was the big gun for CSKA with 25 points, including 4-for-6 three-point shooting to go with 4 assists and 4 steals.. Viktor Khryapa fillwed wih 12 points and Alex Shved with 11 for the winners. For Khimki, Vitaly Fridzon was the only double-digit scorer, with 14 points, while Sergey Monia had 9 plus 11 rebounds. Early points from Lazaros Papadopoulos had Khimki a step ahead of CSKA, at 14-12, until Khryapa's three-pointer sparked a 4-10 run . That left the visitors leading 18-22 after 10 minutes. CSKA's run continued with unanswered 7 points to start the second quarter. Soon, Holden buried 3 of 3 free throws for the game's first double-digit lead, 22-32, and CSKA held onto most of that edge as the half ended 34-43. Khimki scored the first 4 points after the break to close within 38-43, but Khryapa and Holden answerd. When Khimki got two more times, Andrey Vorontsevich and Holden detonated three-pointers as CSKA commanded a 50-59 edge after three quarters. When the same duo combined for 5 points to open the final quarter, CSKA was up 50-64 and on its way to a new title.

Kresimir Loncar - BC Khimki_30186BC Khimki Moscow Region stepped big into the best-of-five Russian League finals by registering a 72-77 road win over CSKA Moscow and thereby taking homecourt advantage in the series. Game 2 is on Sunday, also on CSKA's home court. Kresmir Loncar led the way for the winners with 16 points. Vitaly Fridzon added 15 points, Travis Hansen and Sergey Monia 11 apiece. Andrey Vorontsevich led all scorers by posting 19 points for CSKA and Alexey Shved drained 13 more. CSKA, which has won the last eight Russian League titles, was playing without stars Ramunas Siskauskas, who might miss the entire season, and Trajan Langdon, who had played in the semifinals. Vorontsevich gave CSKA what turned out to be its high lead, 21-14, late in the first quarter. The visitors followed the second-quarter scoring of Loncar and Hansen until a late three-point play by Alexey Savrasenko was good enough for a 41-43 Khimki advantage at halftime. Khimki continued its surge to reach a double-digit cushion, 51-61, with a three-point shot by Fridzon late in the third quarter. J.R. Holden responded from long range to keep CSKA within 56-61 beginning the fourth quarter. Sani Becirovic from the foul line got CSKA even closer, at 63-67, but Sergey Monia joined Loncar in boosting Khimki ahead 63-71 with 5 minutes left. Vorontsevich slammed for CSKA's last big run to 69-71 with 90 seconds to play. Coming out of a timeout, however, Zoran Planinic and Loncar made back-to-back baskets gave a 69-75 margin to Khimki. Next, Fridzon's jumper and a blocked shot by Monia sealed the win for the guests, who are now ahead in a Russian League final series for the first time in club history.
