The 2016 class of the Euroleague Basketball Institute Master in Sports Management & Marketing gathered in Venice, Italy this month to present their theses and receive their diplomas.
The students from the EBI Master’s 10th edition had met together three times previously, once at the Euroleague Basketball headquarters in Barcelona for the transfer of knowledge from Euroleague Basketball senior managers, secondly for an academic session in Venice which was held at the Ca Foscari university and then at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in Berlin, where they went behind the scenes and attended lectures from industry leaders. The students filled the time in between those in-person encounters with intense e-learning and practical case study group assignments.
During the fourth session, the students presented a marketing, communication or business plan for their final thesis. The final session ended with a graduation ceremony at the renowned Aula Magna Silvio Trentin, a terrific backdrop for the students to round off a year full of memorable events.
"Having already studied a sports management Bachelor's degree, I primarily enjoyed meeting and interacting with many interesting people from different nations at the EBI Master during the past 10 months, class valedictorian Robin Gollbach of Germany, Sales & Marketing Manager for FC Bayern Munich said. "The program's educational content, as well as the presentations of high-class guest speakers, provided valuable insight into the sports marketing environment that will definitely be useful for my daily business at FC Bayern Basketball. At the same time, I want to emphasise the great bonding with fellow classmates. Without that, studying would not have been the same, which is why I can truly state having found not only colleagues but lots of new friends.”
