Application process opens for the 2016-17 edition of the EBI Master in Sports Management & Marketing

The application process has opened for candidates interested in the 2016-17 edition of the Euroleague Basketball Institute Master in Sports Management & Marketing, under the auspices of Euroleague Basketball and Ca’ Foscari University.

A total of 200 students from 36 different countries have completed the 10 previous editions of the program and enjoyed the quality and flexibility through e-learning tools as well as sports immersion on a unique journey divided into four sessions across three different European cities: Barcelona, Venice and the host city of the 2017 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four.

The initial session for the 11th edition of the program is scheduled for October 10 to 12, 2016, at the Euroleague Basketball Headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. This first three-day meeting will consist of classes with a general introduction to the EBI Master, educational tools to become familiar with the e-learning platform, team building, as well as presentations by Euroleague Basketball Department Directors. The e-learning will then proceed for 14 further weeks; once a week, tutors will be available online to assist the students, who will also have to pass tests specifically conceived to verify their ongoing learning.

Students will come together for a second session at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy, from January 18 to 20, 2017. This session will focus on the academic components behind sports management and marketing. Afterwards, the e-learning continues for a further 17 weeks.

The 2017 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, to be held from May 18 to 21, will mark the third session and offer four days of behind-the-scenes access to one of the largest sporting events in the world. This session will provide presentations from guest lecturers from the Sports Business, which in the past have included companies such as Bein.Party, ESPN, FC Barcelona, IMG, NBA, New Era, Nike, Special Olympics, Turkish Airlines & Twitter. Students will spend the following eight weeks finalising and submitting their final project.

The fourth and final session will take place between July 12 and 14, 2017, at Ca’ Foscari University, where the students will defend their marketing, communication or business plan and celebrate their graduation ceremony next to the Grand Canal.

Over the course of the program, students will be able to learn and become acquainted with the methodologies and tools that professional clubs and sport-related companies implement in analysing their respective markets and planning their strategies within a global environment. The EBI Master is designed for individuals currently working or interested in working as: Club Managers, Federation Staff, League Executives, Marketing Managers, Arena Staff, Event Directors, as well as in companies providing products and services for the sports sector.

Alumni work in organisations as diverse as but not limited to: Apple, Canada Basketball, Euroleague Basketball, FC Bayern Munich, FIBA, Vodafone, IMG, NADA Germany, NBA, Nike Iberia, Zalgiris Kaunas, Red Star Belgrade, Microsoft, Desigual and UAE Football Association.
