Euroleague in support of 46664 , Nelson Mandela's Foundation
46664 CampaignEuroleague Basketball associated with Nelson Mandela’s Foundation during the 2008-09 Season. A huge campaign in support of 46664 was held by the Euroleague for Life in which during 16 games the Euroleague clubs, players, coaches and referees joined actively joined 46664.

The seven-year-old campaign. 46664 "it's in our hands" raises awareness and money to fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic afflicting poor communities. The special "46664" games, which formed part of the Euroleague's Top 16 phase, began on Wednesday, February 11 and continued through Thursday, February 26, 2009.

All the Euroleague games played between those dates featured a concerted effort to remind fans and viewers how they couln help to stop HIV/AIDS. Players warmed up for each game wearing t-shirts with the 46664 foundation logo. Team captains speaked to the home fans just before each opening tip-off. And all players, referees and coaches weared special "46664" tattoos, which was Mr. Mandela's prisoner number for 26 years before he ended apartheid in South Africa and became the country's president.
