Riste Stefanov - Lukoil Academic Lukoil Academic Sofia triumphed in the Bulgarian Cup final on Friday night, beating cross town rival of Levski 75-85 at the end of an intense encounter. Donta Smith was chosen MVP after scoring 23 points to help Academic to its seventh Bulgarian Cup crown and second in a row. Academic led 25-26 after 10 minutes and increased it to 37-41 by halftime. Heading into the fourth quarter, Academic was in control 51-64 and it held on from there. Smith made 7-of-9 two-point and 2-of-3 three-point shots on the way to his tally, Todor Stoykov added 15, Riste Stefanov 14, Mate Skelin 10 and Lamont Jones had 8 points and 8 assists. Stanislav Slaveykov was the main contributor for Levski with 23 points. Smith scored 19 to lead Academic to an 83-72 win over Spartak Plevin in the semifinal, while Stefan Georgiev posted 17 points and 10 boards as Levski topped CSKA Sofia 81-86 in the other semi.
