League Cup Final
2006-07 CZECH LEAGUE PREVIEW
With the echoes of an outstanding Euroleague Final Four held in Prague last spring still resounding, the Czech League is back with perennial champs CEZ Basketball Nymburk ready to win its fourth consecutive title. Nymburk landed physical guard and dunk specialist Guillermo Diaz, veteran big man Michael Meeks, center Antti Nikkila or playmaker Walker Russell, as well as keeping effective big man Radoslav Rancik, forward Ladislav Sokolovsky or combo guard Goran Savanovic. In other words, seeing Nymburk not walking away with yet another Czech League title would be one of the biggest surprises all around the continent. BK Prostejov made it to the final last season and will try to repeat its sucess with players like Cameron Crisp, Daniel Novak or Ondrej Soska. Mlekarna Kunin Novi Jicin is back with a competitive roster featuring Travis DeGroot, Tarvis Williams, Stepan Reinberger or David Hajek, while A Plus ZS Brno and BK Synthesia Pardubice will battle for a semifinal spot, too. All 12 teams battle in the first phase and the top 6 advance to upper group in the second phase, locking a playoff spot. These six teams and the best two from the lower group battle in the Mattoni NBL playoffs, with best-of-five quarterfinals and finals, as well as a best-of-seven title series.
