French League, Game 2: September 30-October 1
Adecco Asvel became the exclusive leader atop the French League standings with a 3-0 record by thrashing Le Mans 66-45 at home on Sunday afternoon. Brian Greene led the winners with 15 points while Amara Sy and Rowan Barrett each had 13 for Asvel. Yannick Bokolo had 14 points for Le Mans, which dropped to 0-2. Asvel opened the game with a 12-0 run and never trailed, as it extended its lead to 36-21 at halftime and then again to 52-32 after 30 minutes. Asvel had beaten Orleans 74-72 on Tuesday behind 15 points from Barrett. Nancy is also unbeaten at 2-0 by thrashing Chalon 92-68 at home. Cedrick Banks paced the winners with 27 points on 10-for-13 shooting, Tariq Kirksay added 20 while Cyril Julian had 10 points and 14 rebounds in an easy home win for Nancy. Pau-Orthez bounced back from its initial loss by downing Clermont 81-66 behind 16 points and 13 rebounds from Britton Johnsen. John Gilchrist had 14, Xane D'Almeida 12 and C.C. Harrison 10 for Pau, which led 72-48 after 30 minutes. Strasbourg dropped to 0-2 due to a 74-65 road loss against Paris. Donald Copeland had 24 points for Paris while Chuck Eidson had 22. In other games, Hyeres-Toulon beat Bourg 73-49, Orleans defeated Reims 69-57, Le Havre edged Besancon 81-86, Roanne topped Gravelines 87-83 while Dijon defeated Cholet 74-67 behind 29 points and 11 rebounds from T.J. Lux.
