French League, Game 7: October 21-22, 2006
Michael Bauer - Pau-Orthez There are no undefeated teams in the French League, as Pau-Orthez downed Adecco Asvel 77-80 on the road on Sunday. Pau improved to 3-4 while Asvel dropped to 5-1. Michael Bauer led the winners with 24 points on 7-for-8 shooting. Britton Johnsen added 18 and Aaron Miles 15 for Pau. Chevon Troutman had 18 points for Asvel. Troutman, Yohann Sangare and Rowan Barrett helped Asvel to get a 29-13 margin after 10 minutes, but Bauer and Miles helped Pau to get back into the game, while a three-point play by Thierry Rupert tied it a 60-60 early in the final period. Troutman and Laurent Foirest allowed Asvel to keep a slim lead, but Johnsen and Miles fueled a 0-8 run which forced Asvel to call timeout at 74-79. It all came down to the final seconds, in which Troutman and Barrett missed three-point shots to take the game to overtime. Nancy improved to 6-1 and now leads the standings by downing Bourg 64-75 on the road on Saturday. Dan McClintock led the winners with 18 points, Cedrick Banks added 15, John Linehan added 12 and Maxime Zianveni 11 for Nancy. McClintock had 10 points in a 10-24 opening run for Nancy and the guests boosted their margin to 28-52 midway through the second quarter. Bourg never recovered and Nancy cruised to a well-deserved win. Le Mans improved to 3-4 by beating Le Havre 92-78 at home. Kenny Gregory led the winners with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Sandro Nicevic added 19, Pape-Philippe Amagou 15, Eric Campbell posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Tyson Wheeler scored 10 points and dished 8 assists for Le Mans, which trailed 60-63 after 30 minutes. Amagou nailed 3 triples in a game-breaking 25-6 run which allowed Le Mans to win the game. Strasbourg also improved to 3-4 by topping Cholet 83-71 at home also on Saturday. Chuck Eidson had 21 points for Strasbourg while Aerick Sanders and Afik Nissim each added 14 for the hosts, who trailed 54-56 after three quarters. Eidson took over with 8 points in a 14-3 run which allowed Strasbourg to get full control of the game for good. In other games, Besancon beat Reims 73-80, Gravelines defeated Dijon 76-69, Chalon edged Clermont 61-63, Roanne topped Hyeres-Toulon 93-103 while Paris downed Orleans 77-80.
