Belgian League, Game 10: November 11, 2006
Spirou Charleroi defeated Dexia Mons-Hainaut 82-75 and took advantage of Sanex Antwerp G's home loss to move into first place in the Belgian League. Charleroi improved to 8-2, ahead of Antwerp (7-3) and Okapi Aalstar (7-4). Charleroi took the lead for good in the second quarter when back-to-back Amit Tamir three-pointers sparked a 13-2 run that gave the hosts a 40-34 lead. Mons closed the gap to 43-39 at halftime and got within 1 point early in the second half, but Ralph Biggs scored half of the points as Charleroi responded with a 10-0 run that gave the team its first double-digit lead. Greg Grays led Charleroi with 14 points and 4 steals while Damir Krupalija and Jonathan Tabu added 12 points each. Kevin Houston led Mons with 22 points and 9 rebounds, Jim Potter added 17 and Monte Mack 14. Telindus Oostended blew an early -double-digit lead before falling to Basket Gr Leuven 76-67. Rashad Wright started the game hot as Oostende raced out to a 2-16 lead, but Leuven scored 12 unanswered points in the second period to take a 38-36 halftime lead. After a tight third period, Chris Watson stood out in the fourth as Leuven pulled away for the win. Watson had 15 points and 9 rebounds, Ian Hanavan 15 points and Marshall Phillips 13 for Leuven, while Wright finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Lavar Postell 15 and Vanja Plisnic 11 points and 8 boards in defeat for Oostende. Euphony Bree surprised Antwerp on the road, 76-80. Kelvin Torbert led Bree with 22 points, Scott Emerson added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Bryan Lynch contributed 10. Gur Shelef had 16 points and 4 assists for Antwerp, while Senne Geukens and Mladen Sekularac added 12 each. Trevor Huffman and Pablo Gonzalez scored 18 and 17, respectively, to lead Aalstar past R Atomia Brussels 84-57, and Liège Basket defeated Verviers-Pepinster 77-82 behind Ronnie McCollum's 19 points.
