French League, Game 25: March 16-18, 2007
Nancy became the exclusive leader atop the French League standings at 18-7 by downing Adecco Asvel 78-61 at home on Sunday. Tariq Kirksay led the winners with 15 points. Maxime Zianveni posted a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds, Branko Milisavljevic also had 14 points and Cedrick Banks added 11 in an easy win for Nancy, that led 53-29 at halftime and never looked back. Strasbourg stayed fourth at 16-9 by beating Le Havre 57-69 on the road on Friday. Chuck Eidson paced the winners with 20 points, Michael Smith added 16 while Aerick Sanders had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds for Strasbourg, that trailed 35-31 at halftime. Strasbourg improved its defense after the break, as Eidson, Smith and a three-pointer by Afik Nissim gave the guests a 46-53 edge after 30 minutes. Le Havre did not recover and Strasbourg added a convincing road win. Le Mans dropped to 14-11 due to a 64-61 road loss against Clermont. Sandro Nicevic, Eric Campbell and Shawnta Rogers each had 12 points for Le Mans. The game went down to the wire, as Tony Skinn made free throws for Clermont while Pape-Philippe Amagou missed a desperation three-point shot at the buzzer. Pau-Orthez also dropped to 14-11 due to a 84-98 home loss against Hyeres-Toulon. Derrick Obasohan led the winners with 34 points. Melvin Sanders had 20 points for Pau, Ricardo Greer added 18 while C.C. Harrison and Xane D'Almeida each tallied 10 for the hosts, that trailed 64-77 after 30 minutes and never recovered. In other games, Reims edged Dijon 64-68, Cholet downed Bourg 78-60, Chalon thrashed Gravelines 89-70, Orleans topped Besancon 78-85 while Paris edged Roanne 80-78 in overtime with game-winning free throws by Vladimir Petrovic.
