French Semaine Des As Quarterfinals: February 7-8, 2008

Vichy provided the first surprise in the quarterfinals opened by thrashing Le Mans 65-82 on Thursday. Jimmal Ball paced the winners with 22 points, Zach Moss added 16, Rasheed Wright had 11 while William Gradit got 10 for Vichy. Antoine Diot had 15 points for Le Mans, Nicolas Batum added 14 and Sam Clancy 11. Vichy led 10-19 after 10 minutes and boosted its margin up to 23-46 at halftime, enough to control the game until the final buzzer. Hyeres-Toulon reached the semifinals by edging Sluc Nancy 95-98 in overtime also on Thursday. Sean Colson led the winners with 30 points, Hrvoje Perincic added 20, Austin Nicholas got 19 and Tony Williams 16 for the hosts. Zab Dowdell had 18 points for Nancy, Jeff Greer added 17, Ricardo Greer and Michael Bauer each got 14 and DJ Harrison 13. Toulon led 55-69 after 30 minutes and kept a 75-86 edge with 2 minutes to go. Bauer and TJ Parker fueled a 11-0 run that Jeff Greer capped with a buzzer-beating triple to send the game to overtime, 86-86. Colson had 10 points in the extra period to win it for Toulon. Cholet Basket also made it to the semifinals by downing defending champion Chorale Roanne 63-85 on Friday. Nando De Colo had 18 points for Cholet, Alan Wiggins added 14, Steed Tchicamboud and Justn Doellman each got 13 while Rodrigue Beaubois scored 12 points for the winners. Marc Salyers had 16 points for Chorale, Adam Hess 15 and Brion Rush 10. Cholet led 28-39 at halftime, improved its margin to 46-60 after 30 minutes and Chorale never recovered. Asvel Basket advanced to the semifinals by downing Le Havre 74-65 in the fourth quarterfinal. Crevon Troutman had 17 points for Asvel, Lamayn Wilson added 12 and Yohann Sangare 10. TJ Thompson had 25 points for Le Havre, that trailed 55-54 after 30 minutes. Sangare and Wilson allowed Asvel to get a well-deserved win. As such, semifinals will be played tomorrow with the following matchups: Vichy - Hyeres-Toulon and Asvel - Cholet.
