Italian League, Game 11: November 24-25, 2007
Danilo Gallinari - AJ Milano Montepaschi Siena stays atop the Italian League standings and improved to a perfect 11-0 record in the standings by topping Benetton Treviso 85-71 at home on Sunday morning. Terrell McIntyre paced the winners with 22 points while Ksystof Lavrinovic added 18 in yet another easy win for Montepaschi, that had a three-game margin ahead everyone else. Lottomatica Roma improved to 8-3 and stayed second by downing Tisettanta Cantu 67-78 on the road on Sunday behind 16 points from Erazem Lorbek. Meanwhile, Danilo Gallinari hit a game-winning four-meter shot to make Armani Jeans edge Snaidero Udine 68-70. He also led his team with 21 points. Upim Bologna survived a tough test by edging Pierrel Capo d'Orlando 94-91 at home on Saturday. Horace Jenkins led the winners with 24 points. La Fortezza Bologna dropped to 5-6 due to a 89-70 road loss against Premiata Montegranaro. In other games, Angelico Biella topped Legea Scafati 95-88, Air Avellino thrashed Siviglia Wear Teramo 101-81, Solsonica Rieti bested Eldo Napoli 77-64 while Scavolini Spar Pesaro beat Cimberio Varese 89-90 in overtime. Rasheed Brokenborough hit a triple for Scavolini to force overtime, 81-81, while Samuele Podesta scored the game-winning layup in the final seconds.

Montepaschi Siena kept dominating the Italian League and improved to 11-0 in the standings by topping Benetton Treviso 85-71 at home on Sunday morning. McIntyre paced the winners with 22 points, Lavrinovic added 18, Shaun Stonerook had 13 while Bootsy Thornton got 12 for Montepaschi. Nana Mensah-Bonsu had 17 points for Benetton, Matteo Soragna added 12 and Rodrigo De La Fuente 11. McIntyre and Kaukenas led the way for Montepaschi in the opening period, as a 9-2 allowed the hosts to get a 24-14 lead after 10 minutes. Benetton managed to get within 24-22 but McIntyre and Thornton stepped up to make Montepaschi restore a double-digit margin, 45-35, at halftime. Romain Sato, Ben Eze and McIntyre soon helped Montepaschi to make it a 20-point game, 67-47, and seal the outcome. Armani Jeans Milano improved to 4-7 by edging Snaidero Udine 68-70 on a game-winning basket by Gallinari, who also led the winners with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Ansu Sesay added 15 points while Travis Watson posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for Milano, that led 55-61 midway through the fourth quarter. Snaidero rallied to tie the game, 66-66, Melvin Booker hit free throws for Milano that Jerome Allen erased with a layup. It all came down to the final play, in which Booker missed but Gallinari grabbed the offensive rebound and hit a four-meter shot to win it for Milano.

Upim Bologna improved to 5-6 by edging Pierrel Capo d'Orlando 94-91 at home on Saturday. Jenkins led the winners with 24 points. Oscar Torres added 18, James Thomas had 13 and 11 rebounds, Stefano Mancinelli got 11 points while Kristaps Janicenoks scored 10 for Upim. Tamar Slay had 29 points for Upea while former Fortitudo star guard Gianmarco Pozzecco added 25. Upea led 88-89 already in the final minute but Jenkins followed free throws with a critical basket for a 92-89 Upim edge. Thomas dunked it and sealed the outcome with 10 seconds remaining. Lottomatica Roma improved to 8-3 and stayed second by downing Tisettanta Cantu 67-78 on the road on Sunday. Lorbek led the winners with 16 points, David Hawkins added 14, Jon Stefansson had 13 and Roberto Gabini 12 for Lottomatica, that led 21-22 early in the second quarter. Hawkins and Stefansson led a 6-24 run that Allan ray capped with a layup to break the game open, 27-46, at halftime. Cantu did not recover, as a jumper by Gabini boosted Roma's lead to 43-69, enough to seal the outcome. La Fortezza Bologna dropped to 5-6 due to a 89-70 road loss against Premiata Montegranaro. Luca Vitali led the winners with 22 points. Delonte Holland had 21 points for La Fortezza while Luca Garri added 12. A three-point play by Roberto Chiacig got La Fortezza within 45-41 midway through the third quarter, but a 16-2 run allowed Premiata to break the game, 61-43, and cruise to yet another big win.
