Portuguese League, Game 1: October 20-21, 2007
The Portuguese League started this weekend and once again, Ovarense Aerosoles is back atop the standings. Ovarense simply overwhelmed Casino Figueira Ginasio 90-62 on Sunday, as it gets ready for its ULEB Cup return in November. Gregory Stempin paced the winners with 28 points on 8-of-11 two-pointers. Cordell Henry and Graham Brown each added 15 while Rui Mota had 11 for Ovarense, that led 42-28 at halftime and rolled in the fourth quarter to start the league with a massive win. Barreirense also opened the competition with a 70-83 road win against Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial. Deforrest Smith paced the winners with 28 points while Shawn Hopes added 20. In other games, Porto Ferpinta edged Vagos Lusavouga Dewalt 68-61 with 16 points from Paulo Cunha, while CAB Madeira topped Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor 88-91 behind 21 points from Douglas Scott.
