MyGuide Amsterdam edged Zorg&Zekerheid Leiden, while EiffelTowers Den Bosch needed overtime to beat Upstairs Weert to keep the status quo atop the Dutch League after a Thursday round of action. Defending champion EiffelTowers topped Weert 84-91 to improve to 12-3, trailing Amsterdam (12-2) by a single defeat in an extra game played. Greg Stevenson tied the game at 75-75 with 15 seconds and Marcel Aarts forced overtime when he blocked Niels Vorenhout’s three-point attempt. Weert came out flat for the extra period and was punished by EiffelTowers, which outscored the hosts 9-16 in the overtime to earn the win. Jayson Wells led Den Bosch with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Stevenson had 14 points and 8 boards, Darrell Tucker scored 14 as well, Kees Akerboom added 11, Aarts finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and Dean Oliver had 9 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Ashley Champion and Trey McDowell posted 20 points apiece for Weert. Amsterdam outlasted Leiden 77-74 behind 18 points and 9 rebounds from Jeron Roberts. Hanzevast Capitals Groningen continued its march towards the top part of the standings by blasting West Brabant Giants 92-75. The Caps led by just 1 point heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Giants 31-15 in the last 10 minutes to take the win. Alton Mason led the winners with 18 points and 8 assists, Dwayne Archbold added 16, Rogier Jansen 15 and Kit Rhymer 14. Patrick Pope paced the Giants with 14 in defeat. In other Thursday games, Dillion Sneed and Lawrence Hamm combined for 47 points and 31 rebounds to lead Aris Friesland over Omniworld 81-67 and the Den Helder Seals bested Lanstede 77-70 behind Dane Bradshaw’s 19 points.
