Turkish League Finals, Game 5: June 4, 2008
Fenerbahce Ulker successfully defended its Turkish League crown by dumping challenger Turk Telekom 90-79 at the Abdi Ipekci Arena in Istanbul on Wednesday night. Fener won the best-of-seven finals series 4-1. Omer Onan scored 20 and Willie Solomon recorded 10 points and 10 assists to lead the winners to their third title. The first was in 1992. Fener led throughout the game, racing out to an early 16-6 lead and going up 26-17 after 10 minutes. The lead grew to 35-21 midway through the second period, before Khalid El-Amin pulled Telekom back within 6. Mirsad Turkcan ensured Fener a 50-40 lead at halftime. The advantage swelled to 17 in the third quarter and Telekom never seriously challenged after that. Semih Erden added 14 points and 6 rebounds for Fener, James White had 12 and Turkcan finished with 10 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. Kris Lang paced Telekom with 19 points, El-Amin added 16 and Erwin Dudley 12 in defeat.
