Adriatic League, Regular Season, Game 22: February 14-15, 2009
Partizan keeps leading the Adriatic League standings with a 20-2 record by rallying for a 17-point deficit to edge nion Olimpija 69-67 in Pionir Arena on Saturday. Stephane Lasme led the winners with 15 points, including a key block in the final seconds. Crvena Zvezda improved to 17-5 and stayed second by beating Helios Domzale 63-69 on the road also on Saturday behind 16 points from Tadija Dragicevic. Hemofarm Stada survived a tough test by edging FMP 90-83 in Vrsac on Saturday. Hemofarm improved to 16-6 while FMP dropped to 9-13. Stefan Markovic paced the winners with 25 points. Zadar improved to 15-7 by thrashing Buducnost m:tel 92-69 at home on Saturday behind 22 points and 9 rebounds from Todor Gecevski. Cibona overcame an early deficit to beat Split 79-73 at home on Sunday with 18 points from Alan Anderson. In other games, Zagreb thrashed Krka 64-84 on the road behind 25 points from Andrej Stimac while Bosna ASA BHT overwhelmed Vojvodina Srbijagas 94-68.
Partizan improved to 20-2 by rallying to edge Union Olimpija 69-67 in Pionir Arena on Saturday. Lasme led the winners with 15 points while Milenko Tepic added 13 for Partizan. Saso Ozbolt led Olimpija with 20 points. Vladimir Golubovic added 15 while Aleksej Nesovic had 13 for the guests. A 10-0 opening run that Novica Velickovic capped with a free throw allowed Partizan to keep a 19-15 edge after 10 minutes. Ozbolt singlehandedly kept Olimpija in the game while Nesovic followed a jumper with a dunk to give the guests their first lead, 30-33. An unstoppable Obzolt nailed a triple and added a jumper for a 33-38 Olimpija lead at halftime. An outstanding Golubovic and three-point plays by Jasmin Hukic and Junior Harrington made it a 17-point game, 38-55. Aleksandar Rasic led a 15-2 run that brought Partizan back to life, 53-57. It all came down to the final minute, as free throws by Mirza Begic gave Olimpija its last lead, 66-67. Tepic sank a critical jumper while Lasme added a free throw and had a big block on Ozbolt in the game's final possession. Crvena Zvezda improved to 17-5 by beating Helios Domzale 63-69 on the road also on Saturday. Dragicevic led the winners with 16 points while Leroy Owens and Mirko Kovac each added 11 for Zvezda, that led 40-48 after 30 minutes. Owens, Dragicevic and Vladimir Stimac stepped up in the fourth quarter to lead Zvezda to a well-deserved road win.
Hemofarm Stada survived a tough test by edging FMP 90-83 in Vrsac on Saturday. Hemofarm improved to 16-6 while FMP dropped to 9-13. Markovic led the winners with 25 points. Boban Marjanovic added 19, Bojan Krstovic had 14 while Miljan Pavkovic got 11 for Hemofarm. Miroslav Raduljica led FMP with 22 points. Dragan Labovic added 20, Filip Covic had 14 and Mladen Jeremic 13. Marjanovic and Nebojsa Joksimovic allowed Hemofarm to get a 25-16 lead after 10 minutes. Raduljica and Nemanja Protic helped FMP to stay in the game, 41-34, at halftime. Even when Markovic was unstoppable and Marjanovic dominated the boards, a jumper by Raduljica kept FMP within 67-62 after 30 minutes. Hemofarm soon boosted its margin to 80-68 and Pavkovic allowed the hosts to keep full control of the game until the final buzzer. Zadar improved to 15-7 by thrashing Buducnost m:tel 92-69 at home on Saturday. Gecevski paced the winners with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Juby Johnson added 16 points, Rok Stipcevic had 12 and 10 assists for a double-double while Dejan Ivanov scored 10 points in an easy home win fro Zadar, that led 49-33 at halftime and never looked back. Vladimir Dasic had 17 points for Buducnost, Vladimir Dragicevic added 14, Marko Simonovic 12 and Vladimir Micov 10. Cibona overcame an early deficit to beat Split 79-73 at home on Sunday. Anderson led the winners with 18 points. Marin Rozic added 16, Jared Homan had 13 while Earl Calloway got 12 for Cibona, that trailed 13-29 late in the first quarter. Rozic shined in the second quarter while Calloway brought Cibona within 35-37 at halftime. Cibona regained the lead immediately after the break and even when Zadar got within 63-61, Anderson and Homan made sure that the hosts added a big home win.
