Austrian League, Regular Season, Phase 2, Game 6: March 30- April 2, 2009
Allianz Swans Gmunden claimed sole possession of first place in the Austrian League after defeating defending champion BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld Panthers 105-88 to improve to 20-8. The two teams entered the action tied atop the table, but Swans came out the aggressor and used a 10-0 first-quarter run to take control early. Gmunden never folded and led by as many as 18 in the second half en route to the win. Matthias Mayer was the start of the game for the Swans with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Peter Hutter added 21 points, Deteri Mayes scored 20, Elijah Palmer produced 16 points and 10 boards and Anthony Fisher finished with 14 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Desmond Penigar led the Panthers with 18 points, Shawn Ray added 17 and Austen Rowland 14. Meanwhile Kapfenberg Bulls blasted Arkadia Traiskirchen 109-90 to grab third place at 18-10. Ramiz Suljanovic shoned for the winners with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. And WBC Kraftwerk Wels beat Oberwart Gunners 73-67 behind 20 points and 8 rebounds from Bruce Fields.
