TJ Thompson - STB Le HavreOrleans stays atop the French League standings with a 10-2 record, with four teams - Asvel Basket, Gravelines, Sluc Nancy and Le Mans - ties for second at 8-3. Orleans took the big showdown of the week by edging Asvel 70-64 behind 15 points from Brian Greene. Amara Sy led Asvel with 16 points. Aymeric Jeanneau and Ali Traore each added 12 while Chevy Troutman had 11 for the guests. Both teams were tied at 55-55 with 7 minutes to go, but a 8-0 run allowed Orleans to seal the outcome. Le Mans thrashed Pau-Orthez 49-83 with 13 points each from Dewarick Spencer, Alain Koffi and Maleye Ndoye. Joao Batista and David Bluthenthal added 10 apiece in an easy road win for Le Mans, that led 24-44 at halftime and never looked back. Nancy registered a 93-78 road loss against Strasbourg. Brion Rush paced the winners with 27 points. Cyril Julian led Nancy with 19 points, Serge Tchicamboud and Jeff Greer each added 11 while Ricardo Greer and John Cox had 10 apiece for Nancy, whose last lead came at 18-20. STB Le Havre improved to 3-9 by edging Vichy 71-77 on the road on Saturday. Marcus Slaughter led the winners with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Bingo Merriex also posted a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, T.J. Thompson added 12 points while Fabien Causeur and Brian Laing each had 10 for Le Havre. Free throws by Causeur and Thompson helped Le Havre to seal the outcome down the stretch. Chorale Roanne went down to 7-4 due to a 83-77 road loss against Chalon. Philippe Braud led the way for Chalon with 26 points. Chris Monroe had 24 points for Roanne, Aaron Harper added 17 while Mohamed Kone got 13 for the guests, Monroe brought Roanne within 80-77 but free throws allowed Chalon to win the game. In other games, Dijon thrashed Besancon 97-61, Cholet downed Hyeres-Toulon 105-71 while Gravelines beat Rouen 76-83 behind 24 points from Yannick Bokolo.
