The Newcastle Eagles clinched the British League regular season for the third time in four years with an 87-70 victory over the Scottish Rocks on Friday night. Trey Moore led five Eagles scorers in double digits with 23 points. On Sunday, second-place Everton Tigers defeated the new regular season champs 101-80 behind a combined 47 points from Andre Smith and Josh Gross. The Tigers moved within three wins of the Eagles' 26-5 record, but with only few games left to play, the Eagles can't be reached. Earlier on Friday, the Tigers downed Marshall MK Lions 73-96 thanks to another huge night from Smith, who had 30 points. The Plymouth Raiders played three times in six nights, edging the Guildford Heat 82-84, falling to the Cheshire Jets 68-82 and pounding the Leicester Riders 96-67. Before that big loss, the Riders beat the Sheffield Sharks 72-87. The Heat topped the Worcester Wolves 100-76, led by 33 points from Keonta Howell, and Marshall MK Lions picked up a 62-76 road victory over the Scottish Rocks.
