Panathinaikos is now second at 12-2, Aris is third at 11-3 and Panellinios fourth at 10-4. Top spots changed hands after Greek League GameDay 14 as Panathinaikos had to settle with an 80-70 defeat at Maroussi, while Olympiacos overwhelmed Egaleo 106-61 at home. The defending champs dropped to second place suffering their second loss in the season so far. Mike Batiste’s 18 points were not enough to handle Maroussi, which got 21 from Jarod Stevenson. Olympiacos registered an easy win over visiting Egaleo with Giorgos Printezis and Giannis Bouroussis scoring 16 points apiece and leading six different Reds with double figures. Panionios did not find much trouble to down PAOK 86-78 in Hellinikon as Lonny Baxter and Ivan Zoroski had 17 points each. Kenny Gregory posted 18 for PAOK in defeat. Panellinios beat Aris 76-55 covering the difference from the first round, too, in a battle between teams that chase the open spot for next season’s Euroleague. Ivan Radenovic bagged 16 points and 7 boards, while Dimitris Tsaldaris had 18 points for Aris. Kolossos Rhodes easily beat AEK 86-68 behind 17 points from Steven Smith, Olympia Larissa did the same at Trikala, 63-71, as Pantelis Papaioakim posted 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Kavala escaped from Larissa with a good 72-80 on the road win over AEL behind 20 points from Adanas Kavaliauskas.

Maroussi Costa Coffee sent a message that echoed all around the Greek League by edging Panathinaikos 80-70 at home on Saturday. Stevenson led the winners with 21 points while Kostas Haralabidis added 16 for Maroussi. Batiste led Panathinaikos with 18 points. Sarunas Jasikevicius added 15 while Vassilis Spanoulis got 12 for the Greens. The hosts used an impressive 21-2 run to build a good 45-31 difference over Panathinaikos. The Greens managed to trim it to 50-45 and 67-63 early in the fourth quarter, but the hosts kept their temper and celebrated a big win. With the score at 77-70, Sarunas Jasikevicius missed the three-pointer that could force a Panathinaikos comeback with 1:20 minutes remaining. Olympiacos did not find any problem to thrash Egaleo Estia 106-61 at home on Sunday. Printezis and Bourousis led 6 Olympiacos players in double digits with 16 points apiece. Theo Papaloukas added 15, Zoran Erceg had 13, Panos Vasilopoulos 11 and Nikola Vujcic 10 for the Reds. Olympiacos soon sailed to an easy 25-10 start to run away from Egaleo and offer some impressive plays in Peace and Friendship Stadium. Youngster Kostas Sloukas was given a warm applause after his 9 points on perfect shooting, 5 steals and 3 assists in 17 minutes of play. Josh Childress did not play as he had already traveled to USA to be examined because of his abdominal injury. Milos Teodosic was also left out of the 12-men squad. Spiros Magounis scored 11 points for Egaleo in defeat.

Panionios dictated the tempo over PAOK in Hellinikon Complex to roll on for an 86-78 victory. Baxter and Zoroski netted 17 points apiece. Levon Kendall added 16 while Aaron Miles had 15 for Panionios. Gregory had 18 points for the guests in defeat. Panellinios was the big winner after the battle against Aris as the hosts not only beat the Thessaloniki team, but also covered the difference of the first round’s game. Panellinios took control of the game after one quarter and never looked back. Radenovic paced the winners with 16 points while Newley added 12 for Panellinios. Tsaldaris had 18 points to lead Aris.
