Lior Eliyahu - Maccabi ElectraMaccabi Electra Tel Aviv bounced back from Thursday’s loss in Jerusalem by blasting Maccabi Givat Shmuel, but remains tied for the top spot in the Israeli League with Hapoel Jerusalem at 4-1. Tel Aviv used an early double-digit lead to beat Givat Shmuel 81-61 at home. Carlos Arroyo led the way with 19 points and Lior Eliyahu added 18 with 7 rebounds for Maccabi. Meanwhile Bnei Hasharon climbed to 3-2 after an 82-67 win over Ironi Kiryat Ata. Ousmane Cisse dominated inside to the tune of 14 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks for the winners. Jerusalem continued its momentum with a big 73-80 road win at Haifa over the local Maccabi Heat. Sharon Shason was on fire with 7 three-pointers out of 11 attempts on the way to a season-high of 25 points, followed by 18 from Omar Sneed. Doron Perkins scored 21 for the losing side. Rishon Lezion earned its first win of the season with an 80-88 road win at Ashkelon. A third-quarter run and a big night by Robert Conley with 32 points made the difference. James Hughes added 19 with 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Amit Tamir scored 21 for Ashkelon. Ironi Nahariya bested Ironi Ramat Gan 64-79 behind Aaron McGee’s 19 points and 11 rebounds. Carmelo Lee scored 16 for Ramat Gan in defeat.

Maccabi Electra needed a big win to recover from the loss to Hapoel and collected an 81-61 triumph over Givat Shmuel at Nokia Arena. The hosts took an early double-digit lead and hung on for the entire game. Maccabi used a 15-0 run with points from Lior Eliyahu and Carlos Arroyo to build a 20+ points lead in the first half before the score settled at 46-27 at halftime. Givat Shmuel rallied in the fourth quarter and closed the gap to 60-57 after Steffon Bradford connected on 5 free throws in a row due to a technical foul, but Eliyahu and Arroyo scored 4 in a row, and D’Or Fischer woke up in the last minutes to secure the win with a 21-4 run. Arroyo was the top scorer with 19 points, Eliyahu added 18 with 7 rebounds, Marcus Brown scored 13 and Fischer 10. Bradford had 17 points for Givat Shmuel.

Bnei Hasharon won for the third time in a row and remained perfect since coach Ariel Beit Halachmi took over. This time it was an 82-67 home win over Ironi Kiryat Ata. Bnei Hasharon stormed from the first minute to take a 12-2 lead on the way to a 31-16 advantage after one quarter. Niv Berkovic carried Kiryat Ata back to within 7, but by halftime it was a 47-32 lead for the hosts. Bnei Hasharon maintained the lead, but saw Kiryat Ata make one last attempt in the closing minutes, when the difference narrowed to 67-63, but Ousmane Cisse dominated the boards as Bnei Hasharon finished the game with a 15-4 run. Cookie Belcher led the scoring sheet with 16 points, followed by 15 from Ori Itchaki and 14 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks by Cisse. Berkovic led Kiryat Ata with 17 points.
