Another weekend, another Italian League win for Montepaschi League, that leads the standings with a perfect 17-0 record. Lottomatica Roma is second at 12-5, five wins away from Montepaschi, while Bancatercas Teramo is third at 12-5. Montepaschi stayed simply unstoppable by thrashing Benetton Basket 67-84 in Treviso on Sunday. Terrell McIntyre led the winners with 13 points and 9 assists. Rimantas Kaukenas added 12 points while Sandro Nicevic led Benetton with 19. Just as Montepaschi, Lottomatica Roma also bounced back from its Euroleague Top 16 loss by downing GMAC Bologna 87-71 in the Italian capital on Sunday behind 18 points from Sani Becirovic. Air Avellino went down to 9-8 due to a 79-74 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. Meanwhile, Armani Jeans Milano dropped to 8-9 because of a 70-60 road loss against La Fortezza Bologna. In other games, Scavolini Spar Pesaro edged Carife Ferrara 91-86, Snaidero Cucine Udine topped Premiata Montegranaro 85-79, NGC Cantu thrashed Eldo Caserta 99-71 while Bancatercas Teramo bested Angelico Biella 89-87 in overtime.
Montepaschi Siena stayed unstoppable in the Italian League by thrashing Benetton Basket 67-84 in Treviso on Sunday. McIntyre led the winners with 13 points and 9 assists. Kaukenas added 12 points while Henry Domercant had 10 for Montepaschi. Nicevic led Benetton with 19 points. CJ Wallace added 13 and 11 rebounds while Gary Neal and Andrea Renzi each had 11 points for the hosts. Nicevic and Neal led Benetton to a 23-17 lead after 10 minutes. Tomas Ress and Marco Carrareto stepped up late in the second quarter to make Montepaschi get a 35-36 halftime edge. Romain Sato and Benjamin Eze fueled a 0-15 run that broke the game open, 44-59. Montepaschi soon boosted its margin to 47-70 and cruised to yet another road win. Air Avellino went down to 9-8 due to a 79-74 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. Pervis Pasco paced the winners with 22 points. Travis Best had 14 points for Avellino, Andrea Crosariol added 13, Chris Warren had 12 while Drake Diener got 11 for the guests, that led for the best part of the opening three quarters and kept a 54-56 edge after 30 minutes. A 12-0 run put Rieti ahead for good, 72-62. Avellino managed to get within 75-74 on a free throw by Best but Jerry Green had 4-for-4 foul shots in the final seconds to seal the outcome down the stretch.

Ibby Jaaber added 15 while Brandon Jennings had 14 for Lottomatica. Lazaros Papadopoulos led Fortitudo with 14 points. Stefano Mancinelli added 13, Gregor Fucka had 11 and 10 rebounds for a double-double while DJ Strawberry and Jamont Gordon each got 10 points for the guests, that led 22-23 after 10 minutes. Lottomatica improved its defense in the second quarter while Jaaber, Luigi Datome and an unstoppable Becirovic gave the hosts a 50-38 halftime margin. Three-pointers by Jennings, Becirovic and Datome broke the game open, 75-54, as Fortitudo never recovered. Armani Jeans Milano went down to 8-9 because of a 70-60 road loss against La Fortezza Bologna. Sharrod Ford and Earl Boykins led Virtus each with 16 points. Mindaugas Katelynas had 14 points to lead Milano while Hollis Price and David Hawkins each added 13. Virtus led 36-23 at halftime and boosted its margin to 53-36 after 30 minutes, enough to seal the outcome long before the final buzzer.
