Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas tie atop the Lithuanian League standings, each with a 2-0 record. Zalgiris overcame its many injuries and absences to thrash Techasas 92-71 at home on Saturday. Dainius Salenga paced the winners with 23 points, Ratko Varda and Jonas Maciulis each added 17 while Rolandas Alijevas and Eurelijus Zukauskas had 11 apiece for Zalgiris, that were without Paulius Jankunas, Loren Woods, Marcus Brown and Willie Deane. Zalgiris led 41-34 at halftime, boosted its margin to 65-51 after 30 minutes and cruised to a well-deserved win. Meanwhile, L. Rytas had to work hard to edge Siauliai 81-77 in Vilnius also on Saturday. Chuck Eidson led the winners with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Mindaugas Lukauskis added 17 points, Marijonas Petravicius had 12 while Martynas Gecevicius got 10 for L. Rytas. Gintautas Vileita led Siauliai with 16 points. Gintaras Kadziulis added 14, Andrius Slezas had 13 against his former team, Vitalijus Stanevicius got 11 while Mindaugas Kuzminskas contributed 10 for the guests. L. Rytas led 44-26 at halftime but Siauliai rallied and completed its comeback with a big triple by Vileita, 73-74, with 1:26 to go. Branko Milisavjlevic, Eidson and Lukauskis fueled a 6-0 run that sealed the outcome down the stretch. In other games, Kaunas Triobet thrashed Neptunas 103-73, Nevezis downed Aisciai 71-64 while Alytus topped Sakalai 98-86 behind 22 points from Andrius Aleksandrovas.
