Sport Lisboa Benfica leads everyone with 11 wins in 11 games in the Portuguese League. And CAB Madeira SAD follows at 8-1, while defending champion Ovarense Dolce Vita is third with an 8-2 record. Benfica had to sweat to earn two tough road victories, beating Vagos 82-85 and Galitos 63-71 with Sergio Ramos scoring 20 points in both games for the winners. Madeira topped Academica 73-70 thanks to 27 points from Jason Smith and then picked up a 62-74 road victory against Queluz behind Smith's 20 points. John Waller scored 21 points to help Ovarense overcome VSC 81-75, while Nuno Cortez posted 25 as the champs slammed Atletico/SLIMCEI 53-98. In other games, FC Porto Ferpinta registered two victories by downing Casino Ginasio 80-67 and topping Esgueira/Oli 74-82. Barreirense/UNILOGOS was also victorious twice by defeating Fisica Torres Vedras 73-57 and Maia Basket 88-106. Fisica recovered to edge Sampaense/Tecoimbra 73-74. Illiabum was the only team from the second best division to win, 77-66 against VSC. Academica handled Alianca 60-72, Vagos smashed Seixal 58-86 and Casino Ginasio beat Angra 64-73.
