Union Olimpija keeps leading the Slovenian League standings with a 9-1 record, with Helios now second at 8-2. Krka is third with a 7-3 record. Olimpija took the big showdown this weekend by edging Helios 62-55 in Ljubljana on Saturday. Vladimir Golubovic led the winners with 13 points. Miha Zupan and Saso Ozbolt each added 11 for Olimpija. Vjekoslav Petrovic had 12 points for Helios, that managed to get within 60-55 with 1:35 to go. Marko Maravic sealed the outcome with a key basket and Olimpija improved its defense in the final minute to win the game down the stretch. Krka also had to battle hard to down Luka Koper 79-82 on the road also on Saturday. Bojan Krivec and Davor Marcelic each had 19 points for Krka, that trailed 66-54 after 30 minutes. A 0-14 run put Krka back ahead, 66-68, while Marko Rakocevic and Marcelic sealed the outcome in the final minutes. In other games, Geoplin Slovan edged Elektra Esotech 72-75 with 17 points from 12 rebounds from Dejan Cigoja. Meanwhile, Zlatorog Lasko overwhelmed Hopsi Polzela 101-57 behind 29 points from Dario Krejic.
