Regal FC Barcelona is second at 19-4, Real Madrid third at 17-6 while Unicaja and DKV Joventut are right behind each with a 17-7 record. Barcelona beating MMT Estudiantes 68-78 on the road on Sunday behind 26 points from Juan Carlos Navarro. In perhaps the biggest showdown this weekend, Real Madrid topped DKV Joventut 100-88 in the Spanish capital on Saturday. Axel Hervelle led the winners with 22 points. Tomas Van den Spiegel added 12 while Ricky Rubio led Joventut with 15 points. An injury-plagued Unicaja downed Kalise Gran Canaria 91-78 in Malaga on Saturday. Marcus Haislip paced the winners with 22 points. Pamesa Valencia improved to 13-11 by edging CB Granada 69-71 on the road on Sunday. Meanwhile, iurbentia Bilbao Basket went down to 10-14 due to a 80-66 road loss against Cajasol on Saturday. In other games, CAI Zaragoza upset Ricoh Manresa 67-71, ViveMenorca edged Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada 78-75 while Bruesa GBC needed overtime to edge CB Murcia 84-83 on a game-winning dunk by Lou Roe.

Real Madrid survived a tough test by beating DKV Joventut 100-88 in the Spanish capital on Saturday. Madrid is now third at 17-6 while Joventut is right behind at 17-7. Hervelle led the winners with 22 points. Van den Spiegel added 12, Jeremiah Massey and Alex Mumbru each had 11 while Marko Tomas and Raul Lopez got 10 apiece for Madrid. Ricky Rubio led Joventut with 15 points. Pau Ribas and Simas Jasaitis each added 14 while Luka Bogdanovic got 11 for the guests. Madrid overcame an early deficit to get a 23-23 tie after 10 minutes while an outstanding Tomas helped the hosts to get a 42-37 lead at halftime. Rubio took over in the third quarter to keep Joventut in the game, 69-64, after 30 minutes. Hervelle and Van den Spiegel helped Madrid to boost its margin to 88-74 with 6 minutes to go and Joventut never recovered. Unicaja also improved to 17-7 by downing Kalise Gran Canaria 91-78 in Malaga on Saturday. Marcus Haislip paced the winners with 22 points. Omar Cook and Thomas Kelati each added 13 while Berni Rodriguez had 11 for Unicaja. Carl English led Gran Canaria with 20 points. Melvin Sanders added 13, Marcus Norris has 12 while Joel Freeland got 10 for the guests. Cook and Haislip allowed Unicaja to get a 20-15 edge after 10 minutes. An outstanding Kelati sank a three-pointer to break the game open, 48-35, at halftime. Unicaja boosted its margin to 60-42 after the break and did not find much trouble to add a big home win.

Regal FC Barcelona stayed second at 19-4 by beating MMT Estudiantes 68-78 on the road on Sunday. Navarro paced the winners with 26 points. Fran Vazquez and Ersan Ilyasova each added 14 for Barcelona. Navarro led a 0-8 run that gave Barcelona a 13-22 margin after 10 minutes. Barcelona boosted its margin to 30-47 at halftime and then again to 37-58 midway through the third quarter. Estudiantes only managed to rally once the outcome was clear. Pamesa Valencia improved to 13-11 by edging CB Granada 69-71 on the road on Sunday. Kenny Gregory and Albert Oliver led the winners each with 12 points. Vule Avdalovic added 11 while Kosta Perovic and Rafa Martinez each had 10 for Pamesa, that was withour Ermal Kuqo and Matt Nielsen. Pamesa trailed 51-41 late in the third quarter but a 0-10 run that Albert Miralles capped with a put-back basket tied it at 51-51 after 30 minutes. The game went down to the wire, as Flo Pietrus followed a layup with a put-back dunk that gave Pamesa a 63-67 edge with 2 minutes to go. It all came down to the game's final possession, but Carlos Cherry missed a shot from downtown at the buzzer. iurbentia Bilbao Basket went down to 10-14 due to a 80-66 road loss against Cajasol on Saturday. Clay Tucker led Cajasol with 18 points. Predrag Savovic led the guests with 11 points while Javi Salgado and Marko Banic each had 10 for Bilbao, that trailed 21-18 after 10 minutes. Cajasol improved its defense in the second quarter while an outstanding Tucker helped the hosts to make it a 14-point game, 43-29, at halftime. A three-pointer by Damir Markota brought Bilbao as close as 55-49 late in the third quarter but free throw accuracy allowed Cajasol to regain a 12-point lead, 69-57, and seal the outcome.
