Belgian League, Season 2009-10
The Belgian League starts with defending champion TEC Spirou Basket ready to challenge every other team in the competition. Spirou is the favorite to repeat as champs, but Base Oostende, Belgacom Liege Basket and Dexia Mons-Hainaut should be in the mix with higher ambitions and the potential to dethrone Charleroi. Charleroi managed to kept its core of players, with Len Matela, Justin Hamilton, Jerry Johnson, Wes Wilkinson and Andre Riddick back in the team. The additions of Chris Hill and Nick Jacobson make Spirou even stronger this season. Oostende renovated its roster with Javier Mojica, Caleb Green, Trevor Huffman, Stephane Pelle and Vladan Vukosavljevic. Mons relies on Nate Reinking, Justin Cage and Kelvin Tolbert to lead the team as it seeks its first Belgian League title. Meanwhile, Liege has a brand new, exciting team with Michael Green, Alex Ruoff and Adrian Banks ready to help returning big man Will Thomas. Among the teams fighting for a playoff spot are VOO Verviers-Pepinster, with Darnell Wilson and Stanley Burrell, and Generali Okapi Aalstar, with Brian Greene and Bingo Merriex. The Belgian League keeps growing from year to year and could be at its best this season.
