Wes Wilkinson - Spirou BasketBelgacom Liege Basket leads the Belgian League standings with a 14-6 record. Defending champion Spirou Basket Charleroi is right behind at 13-6, with VOO Verviers-Pepinster third at 11-8. Pepinster took the big showdown this weekend by downing Liege 92-75 at home on Friday. Darnell Wilson, Darnell Freeman and John Tofi led the winners each with 22 points. Michael Green led Liege with 24 points. Pepinster trailed 61-62 after 30 minutes but a 18-3 final run helped the hosts to get the win. Spirou simply ovewhelmed Antwerp Giants 98-64 in Charleroi on Saturday. Wes Wilkinson led the winners with 19 points. Jerry Johnson added 18, Dwayne Broyles had 17 while Sacha Massot got 11 for Spirou, that led 45-29 at halftime, boosted its margin to 74-38 after 30 minutes and never looked back. Generali Okapi Aalstar rallied from a double-digit halftime deficit to edge Base BC Oostende 67-62 behind 14 points from BJ Raymond. Last but not least, Optima Gent edged Passe-Partout Leuven Bears 80-85 on the road on Saturday. Domien Loubry paced the winners with 23 points.
