Croatian League Semifinals, Game 2: May 22-23, 2010
Cibona became the first team to reach the Croatian League finals by sweeping its best-of-three semifinal playoff series against Zagreb. Cibona sealed its ticket to the title series by downing Zagreb 65-78 in Game 2 on Sunday. Marko Tomas led the winners with 22 points. Jamont Gordon added 21 while Luksa Andric had 12 for Cibona. Luka Zoric led Zagreb with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Damir Mulaomerovic added 12 points for the hosts. Zoric led a 10-2 opening run but Tomas, Gordon and a jumper by Samo Udrih allowed Cibona to get a 15-17 lead after 10 minutes. Tomas struck twice from downtown early in the second quarter to boost the guests' lead to 23-28, enough to stay ahead, 27-31, at halftime. Cibona rolled after the break, using a 0-9 run that Robert Troha capped with a triple to break the game open, 35-48. Cibona boosted its margin to 42-61 late in the third quarter and went on to control the game until the final buzzer. Cedevita stayed alive in the competition by edging Zadar 83-76 at home in Game 2 on Saturday. Series is tied at 1-1 but Zadar hosts Game 3 next week. Marino Bazdaric led the winners with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Ricardo Marsh added 17 points and 10 rebounds while Damjan Rudez had 16 points for Cedevita. Hrvoje Peric led Zadar with 21 points. Rok Stipcevic added 20, Marko Car 14 and Vladimer Boisa 10. It all came down to the final 2 minutes, as a three-pointer by Car brought Zadar within 73-71.
