French League, Game 3: October 16-17, 2009

Cholet defeated Orleans 64-57 at home on Saturday behind 19 points from John Linehan and 14 from Antywane Robinson. Cedrick Banks had 15 points for Orleans while Anthony Dobbins added 10. Orleans led 47-48 after 30 minutes. A 7-0 run that Fabien Causeur capped with free throws sealed the outcome down the stretch, 62-55, as the guests did not recover. Le Mans had less troubles to thrash Gravelines 75-55 at home also on Saturday. Dee Spencer led the winners with 16 points. Marc Salyers added 14 while Zack Wright had 10 for Le Mans, that led 47-35 at halftime and kept a safe margin until the final buzzer. Sluc Nancy improved to 2-1 by edging Paris-Levallois 76-77 in the French capital on Friday. Kaniel Dickens paced the winners with 24 points while Ricardo Greer added 18 and 13 rebounds for Nancy, that led 47-62 with 8 minutes to go. Paris rallied to get within 76-77 and even when John Cox missed free throws, the hosts did not get a shot up in time. Asvel registered its first win by downing Strasbourg 90-66 in Lyon on Saturday. Bobby Dixon paced the winners with 20 points. Ben Dewar added 17, Mindaugas Lukauskis had 16, Eric Campbell 13 and Curtis Borchardt 12 for Asvel, that led 36-31 at halftime but rolled after the break to grab its first win. In other games, Hyeres-Toulon edged Vichy 70-62, Poitiers upset Chalon 74-81, Le Havre topped Roanne 73-70 and Dijon defeated Rouen 90-99 behind 30 points from Ramel Bradley.
