French League, game 6: November 7-8, 2009
Ricardo Greer - SLUC NancyCholet Basket keeps leading the French League standings with a 5-1 record, with Le Mans right behind at 4-1. Cholet edged Dijon 71-78 on the road on Friday behind 17 points from John Linehan. Antywane Robinson added 13 while Claude Marquis had 12 for Cholet, that led 59-70 midway through the fourth quarter and did not find much trouble to add an important win. Le Mans survived a tough test by topping Paris-Levallois on the road on Saturday. JP Batista paced the winners with 20 points. Guillaume Yango and Zack Wright each had 12 while Thierry Rupert had 10 for Le Mans, that overcame a four-point halftime deficit to get a 42-48 edge after 30 minutes. An unstoppable Batista sealed the outcome with 4 minutes left. Nancy improved to 4-2 by thrashing Rouen 90-73 at home also on Saturday. Kaniel Dickens led the winners with 28 points. Steed Tchicamboud added 22, Akin Akingbala posted a monster double-double of 14 points and 21 rebounds, Ricardo Greer registered a triple-double - 14 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assists - while Lesly Bengaber got 11 points for Nancy, that led 31-15 after 10 minutes and kept full control of the game until the final buzzer. Asvel dropped to 2-4 due to a 71-64 road loss against Gravelines. Ben Woodside led the winners with 20 points. Victor Samnick had 17 points for Asvel while Ali Traore added 14. Orleans went down to 3-2 because of a 80-88 home loss against Hyeres-Toulon. Thomas Terrell led the winners with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Justin Doellman had 18 points for Orleans, Cedrick Banks 17, Aldo Curti 11 and Ryvon Covile 10. Orleans trailed 60-72 with 8 minutes to go and never recovered.
