French League, Game 20: February 26-27, 2010
Le Mans leads the French League table with a 16-4 record, with Cholet Basket right behind at 15-5. Le Mans stayed atop the standings despite a 67-75 home loss against Paris on Friday. Lamont Hamilton paced the winners with 19 points. JP Batista also had 19 points to lead Le Mans while Thierry Rupert added 10 for the hosts, that rallied from a double-digit deficit to get within 67-70. Hamilton and Rodney Elliott allowed Paris to seal the outcome. Cholet thrashed Dijon 88-67 at home on Saturday behind 18 points from Sammy Mejia. Mickael Gelabale added 12, John Linehan had 11 while Antywane Robinson had 20 for Cholet, that led 50-38 at halftime, boosted its margin to 73-50 after 30 minutes and never looked back. Nancy improved to 13-7 and ties for third place by downing Rouen 74-93 on the road on Saturday. Steed Tchicamboud paced the winners with 17 points. Marcus Slaughter added 16, John Cox 15, Stephen Brun 14 and Ricardo Greer 13. Nancy rolled after the break to get a 52-68 margin after 30 minutes, enough to keep full control of the game for good. Asvel Basket improved to 9-11 by edging Gravelines 76-70 in Lyon on Saturday. Rawle Marshall led the winners with 20 points. Ali Traore added 12 while Victor Samnick got 10 for Asvel. Three-pointers by Marshall and Mindaugas Lukauskis allowed Asvel to seal the outcome, 69-60, late in the fourth quarter. Orleans moved up to 13-7 by edging Hyeres-Toulon 73-76 on the road on Friday. Cedrick Banks paced the winners with 22 points. Aldo Curti added 17 while Ryvon Covile got 10 for Orleans. A dunk by Tony Dobbins and free throws by Laurent Sciarra allowed Le Mans to seal the outcome, 71-75, in the final seconds. In other games, Roanne edged Vichy 60-63, Le Havre topped Poitiers 66-60 while Chalon thrashed Strasbourg 87-67 behind 27 points from Taj Gray.
