French League, Game 22: March 12-13, 2010
Ricardo Greer - SLUC NancyLe Mans keeps leading the French League standings at 17-5 despite a 71-81 home loss against Poitiers on Friday. Kenny Younger and Tommy Gunn led the winners each with 19 points. Marc Salyers led Le Mans with 20 points. Dee Spencer added 11 while JP Batista had 12 and 11 rebounds for Le Mans, that led 64-55 with 5 minutes left. A 0-19 run allowed Poitiers to rally and win the game in shocking fashion. Cholet stayes second at 16-6 despite a 72-73 home loss against Gravelines. Cyril Akpomedah led Gravelines with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Sammy Mejia led Cholet with 20 points. Antywane Robinson added 14, Mickael Gelabale had 11 while Arvydas Eitutavicius got 10 for the hosts. It all came down to the final seconds, as a big triple by Juby Johnson won it for Gravelines. In the biggest game in this round, Sluc Nancy improved to 15-7 by edging Asvel Basket 71-74 in Lyon on Saturday. Marcus Slaughter led the winners with 20 points. Ricardo Greer added 15, Steed Tchicamboud had 11 while Jeff Greer got 10 for Nancy. Ali Traore led Asvel with 34 points on 15-of-18 two-pointers. Rawle Marshall added 16 for the hosts, that dropped to 9-13. It all came down to the final minute, as a triple by Marshall got Asvel within 69-70. Tchicambous and Ricardo Greer combined for 4-of-4 free throws in crunch time to seal the outcome. Orleans improved to 14-8 by besting Le Havre 58-78 on the road on Saturday. Justin Doellman led the winners with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Adrien Moerman added 18 points while Austin Nichols had 11 for Orleans, that led 17-36 and never looked back. In other games, Vichy thrashed Paris-Levallois 71-53, Rouen topped Chalon 83-71, Roanne overwhelmed Dijon 105-61 while Hyeres-Toulon defeated Strasbourg 96-87 behind 29 points from Derrick Obasohan.
