Greek League all-star game: March 14, 2010
Olympiacos Piareus big man Sofoklis Schortsanitis was the clear star and MVP of the 18th Greek League all-star game after recording 42 points on near-perfect shooting to lead Team Greece to an impressive 147-114 victory over the Rest of the World in Heraklion, Crete. Both the winners and Schortsanitis set records for the most points scored in the history of the event. Schortsanitis bagged 42 points on 16-for-16 two-point shooting, 3-of-5 three-point shooting and 1 of 2 free throws to earn the MVP trophy. Michalis Pelekanos of Maroussi added 16 points, Manolis Papamakarios of Panellinios scored 15, Theodoros Papaloukas of Olympiacos recorded a double-double of 13 points and 15 assists, Kostas Kaimakoglou of Maroussi and Makis Nikolaidis had 13 points apiece and Antonis Fotsis of Panathinaikos added 10 points. From the Rest of the World Mike Batiste of Panathinaikos scored 17 points, Drew Nicholas of Panathinaikos and Kenny Gregory netted 16 points, Torin Francis bagged 15 points, Jamon Lucas of Maroussi had 13 points and Warren Carter chipped in 10 points. Amongst the selected players Dimitris Diamantidis and Vassilis Spanoulis of Panathinaikos, Ioannis Bourousis of Olympiacos and Andres Betts and Jeremy Richardson of Aris didn’t play due either to injuries or personal problems. Lance Harris won the slam dunk contest and Drew Nicholas was the winner of the three-point shootout.
