Nikola Pekovic - Panathinaikos_24572Panathinaikos crushed Trikala on the road 72-101 behind 18 points from Nikola Pekovic to register its 17th straight Greek League victory and improve its record to 21-1. It’s chief rival, Olympiacos, rested since its away game against Peristeri was postponed until April 14. Meanwhile Maroussi escaped from Hellinikon a 66-73 victory over AEK as Billy Keys posted 21 points and 5 assists. Panellinios overwhelmed GS Olympia Larissa 80-96 on the road behind 19 points and 6 boards from Ian Vougioukas. Aris suffered a loss to Kolossos in Rhodes, 79-73, despite 18 points and 9 boards from Matt Walsh. Angelos Tsamis shined with 22 points for Kolossos. In a thrilling game PAOK edged Panionios on the road, 77-79, behind 23 points from Chris Monroe, while Ilissiakos downed Kavala 73-66 as Othello Hunter recorded 19 points and 10 boards.

The Greens had an easy afternoon at Trikala, where they thrashed the local team 72-101 and remain on the top of the standings with fours games to till the end of the regular season. Nikola Pekovic led the way with 18 points, Sarunas Jasikevicius netted 14 points, Drew Nicholas scored 12 and Mike Batiste and Antonis Fotsis added 11 each. Vassilis Spanoulis returned in action after a three-game absence and scored 5 points. Marcus Haislip sat out due to injury. For the hosts, Miha Zupan recorded 19 points and 6 boards, Giorgos Apostolidis posted 16 points and Tyrell Biggs added 13 points.

At Hellinikon Olympic Hall, Maroussi led 38-521 after 25 minutes of action, but AEK cut to 57-59. The visitors didn’t panic and held on for the 66-73 victory. Billy Keys scored 18 points, including 6 free throws in the final minutes, Jared Homan recorded 15 points and 9 boards, Michalis Pelekanos bagged 14 points and Jamon Lucas added 10 points and 6 assists. For the hosts, Torin Green posted 21 points, 5 boards, 5 assists and Lamont Mach got 17 points and 9 boards.

Panellinios didn’t have difficulty in downing GS Olympia Larissa on the road 80-96, showing it is ready for the Eurocup Quarterfinals return game against Gran Canaria 2014. Ian Vougioukas bagged 19 points ands grabbed 6 rebounds, Devin Smith posted 16 points and 7 boards, Djuro Ostojic had 13 points and Kostas Charalampidis and Markos Kolokas scored 11 points each.

At Rhodes, surprising Kolossos improved its record to 13-9 and remained in fifth place after overcoming a 6-point deficit at the end of the first half, 31-37 to down Aris 79-73. Angelos Tsamis shined with 22 points, Sasa Vasiljevic netted 16 points, Lance Harris posted 15 points and 9 boards and Robert Dozier recorded 14 points and 10 boards. Matt Walsh led the way for Aris with 18 points and 9 boards, Jeremy Richardson, who returned after his injury bagged 13 points and Aaron Miles and Dimos Dikoudis had 11 points apiece.

Milos Teodosic - Olympiacos_24951Olympiacos overwhelmed Peristeri on the road 80-102 on Wednesday in a makeup game from Gameday 22 that was postponed during the Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs. Milos Teodosic scored 16 points, making 5 of 6 three-pointers, as the Reds improved their record to 20-3, keeping them two games behind rival Panathinaikos for first place. Olympiacos led 41-60 by halftime and didn’t have any problems finishing the job. The Reds outrebounded Peristeri made 10 of 15 shots behind the arc. Patrick Beverley added 14 points for the winners, Loukas Mavrokefalides recorded 13 points and 6 boards, Josh Childress had 12 points, Panagiotis Vassilopoulos netted 11 and Sofoklis Schortsanitis posted 10 points and 7 rebounds. For the hosts, Michael Bramos scored 20 points on 5-of-9 three-point shooting, Spencer Nelson posted 14 points and 6 boards and Jamie Arnold added 12 points.
